CANNABIS INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES

  1. More strategic alliances: There was a need to enhance collaboration and break down the silos so many stakeholders were operating in and to strengthen regional alliances;
  2. Laws need to urgently change: The impact of regulations were preventing the cannabis economy from getting off the ground and there was a need to protect the local industry; there were also many licensing issues around SAHPRA that had to be resolved;
  3. Develop incubation hubs: there was a need to enhance incubation of cannabis businesses across the value chain;
  4. Open up the local market: the development of a local cannabis market would benefit township and rural economies and not make South Africa wholly reliant on exports;
  5. Unlock finance: the cannabis industry is under-financed and specialist financing vehicles will be made available by provincial development agencies;
  6. Break down the stigma: there is a need for more cannabis education for both the general public and specialist education for government departments.
